Another Injury Blow For Playoff Chasing Red Sox

Jarren Duran's Season Ends with Turf Toe Surgery

Another Injury Blow for Playoff-Chasing Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox have been dealt another injury blow, with center fielder Jarren Duran set to undergo season-ending turf toe surgery on Wednesday, according to manager Alex Cora.

Duran has been battling the injury since August 30, when he underwent surgery on his left big toe to repair a flexor tendon. The injury occurred when he tried to climb a wall in New York while attempting to make a home run catch.

Despite the surgery, Duran was initially listed as day-to-day by Cora. However, he was placed on the 10-day injured list after aggravating the injury while trying to make a play at the fence on Sunday.

The Red Sox are currently in the midst of a playoff race, and Duran's absence will be a significant blow. The team will now have to rely on other players to step up in his place, with Enrique Hernandez and Alex Verdugo likely to see increased playing time in center field.

Duran has been a key part of the Red Sox lineup this season, batting .253 with 10 home runs and 36 RBIs. His speed and fielding ability have also been valuable assets for the team.

The Red Sox will hope to get Duran back healthy for the 2023 season, but for now, they will have to find a way to replace his production without him.
